Laparoscopic Hysterectomy

A laparoscopic ovarian cystectomy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure which is done at the doctor’s clinic. This surgery usually takes 1 to 2 hours to complete, depending on factors such as the size of the uterus and the underlying condition for which treatment is done. This is performed under the administration of anaesthesia, either general or local. Once the sedation comes into effect, your surgeon makes two to three small incisions near your abdominal area to insert the laparoscope, a tiny, thin tube-like structure used for a clear visualisation of the surgical site. After this, some surgical instruments are then inserted through those incisions to cut and remove the uterus. Once the uterus is removed, your surgeon will close the incisions with sutures or surgical glue.
